Terms of Service and Rules of Play
Last updated November 5, 2026
These are the house rules for Willowmere Online: the deal between you and us when you play. We kept them short and plain. By making an account or playing, you agree to them.
Who runs Willowmere
Willowmere Online is made and run by PixelStory Studio, a one-person studio in Ontario, Canada. The game lives at play.pixelstory.app. When these pages say "we" or "us", that's who they mean. You can always reach us at [email protected].
Your account
You sign in with Google or Discord. That's the only way in, and Willowmere never sees your password. Your characters, items, gil and gems belong to your account, and you can have up to 8 characters on it.
One account is for one person. Please don't share it, lend it, sell it or buy someone else's.
Keeping it safe. Keeping your account safe is up to you. We strongly recommend two-step sign-in. Willowmere can't restore characters, items or gil lost because someone else got into your account.
You can turn on two-step sign-in from the character screen (Account). What happens on your account is your responsibility, so keep your Google or Discord account safe too.
Rules of play
Willowmere is a cozy town. Help keep it that way.
- Be kind. No harassment, bullying, hate, threats, or sharing someone else's private details. Keep names and chat friendly for everyone.
- Play fair. No cheating, hacked or modified clients that give you an edge, bots or scripts that play for you, or using bugs and exploits. If you find a bug, tell us instead. (The game's own Auto battle button is fine, of course.)
- Don't break things. No attacking the servers, flooding them, or getting into accounts or places that aren't yours.
- Don't pretend to be us. Nobody from Willowmere will ever ask for your password, backup codes or card details.
Gil selling: zero tolerance
Buying or selling gil, items, characters or accounts for real money (or for anything outside the game) is not allowed. It hurts everyone's game, and it's how accounts get stolen.
- Automatic suspension. When the signs of gil selling line up (adverts stopped by the chat filter, a brand-new account, very little play, and a report from another player), the account is suspended automatically. It's signed out everywhere and its Auction House listings come back to its mail.
- Special requests. If you think it's a mistake, you can send a special request from the suspended screen. Requests are read by hand, one at a time, and may take a significant amount of time. You only need to send one.
- One more try, then final. If your request is denied, you can send one more, 30 days later. If that one is denied too, the decision is final and no more requests can be sent.
We may also suspend or close an account by hand for serious or repeated breaks of these rules.
Gems and virtual items
Gems are Willowmere's premium currency. You can buy them with real money in the Gem Store and spend them on skins, furniture, cottage layouts and character slots. Here's how they work:
- No cash value. Gems, gil and every item in the game are not money. They can't be cashed out, exchanged for real money, or turned back into money (see the Refund policy for when we refund a purchase).
- A licence, not property. When you get gems or items, we give you a personal, limited right to use them in the game. You don't own them the way you own things in real life, and we can't promise any of them will exist forever.
- Bound to you. Gems belong to your account. Skins, layouts and slots belong to your account; furniture is bound to the character who bought it. None of it can be traded or sold on the Auction House.
- Nothing outside the game. Selling or transferring gems, items, gil, characters or accounts outside the game isn't allowed (see gil selling above).
- Suspended accounts. If an account is suspended or closed for breaking these rules, its gems and items go with it.
The game changes
Willowmere is a living game, and we're always working on it. We may add, change, rebalance or remove things (items, places, prices, features) and we may sometimes need to roll the world back after a problem. We may also, one day, end the game. If we do, we'll give as much notice in the game as we reasonably can.
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for big changes we'll tell you in the game. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
Leaving
You can stop playing any time. To have your account deleted, write to [email protected] (see the Privacy policy).
If something goes wrong
We work hard on Willowmere, but it's made by one person and it's offered as it is. Servers go down, bugs happen, and things can sometimes be lost.
- We aren't responsible for losses that come from someone else getting into your account, from things outside our control, or for indirect losses (like lost time or lost opportunities).
- If we are responsible for something, the most we'll owe you is what you paid for gems in the 12 months before it happened.
- Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be signed away. If a law where you live gives you more protection, you keep it.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer law where you live says you can use your own local courts.
